This is a great chess opening for beginners and intermediate players: The Scandinavian Defense. The strategy, tactics, and tricks are great.

  1. Nowadays everybody should play the tennison gambit icbm variation

  2. I like your videos, but here i didnt get clearly the benefit by playing the scand defend. the only point i got is that it will surprise the opponent, but for the rest?

  3. "If white just leaves the pawn there, you will take it…" So that's the appropriate response if white plays Nc3 immediately instead of taking the pawn first. I've played a couple of games in Chess Demons where I have the black pieces and attempt a Scandinavian, but white would play Nc3 immediately instead of the traditional exd4, Qxd4, and then Nc3 (obviously followed by Qa3). At that point, I'd be completely lost and just wing something.

"If they block with the Knight-I don't know, that's kind of stupid-looking." Getting into that position (8:50) in the first place isn't good, but once there, blocking with the Knight is probably the best option, although blocking with the Queen and offering a Queen trade is also possible.

18:19 Unless I'm mistaken here, instead of Qxh2, Qd2 is also possible (here the doubled pawns is actually an asset for once, as Rxc6 isn't check), because if either Rook takes a pawn, just take the other rook. And if one of the Rooks goes to d1, I am certain that sacrificing the Queen for both Rooks is just a winning endgame (although I'm also just as sure, if not more so, that the GTE/How to Lose at Chess cast is more than capable of finding a way to mess it up).

  4. imao, i tried to play the scandanvian after watching this vid, and in the first try my opponent havent ate the pawn

  5. I genuinely feel smarter after watching this.

  6. Me, watching this and pulling off the h3 g4 Ne5 line: You have been banned for violating the fair play policy.

  7. I’m a year late but that thumbnail is hilarious

  8. I cannot but click the thumbnail… Viking Levy destroying everything

  9. Any free content on chessly to get a feel for your content?

  10. can anyone explain why b4 is a move? for me its hanging ( im beginner )

  11. How would you defend against the bishop taking the pawn from a7 defence ?

  12. You didn't explain if on second move for white B1 to C3, and didn't take or even move their D5 pawn. I assume that is no longer able to play this opening

  13. @15.33 white 's knight can take our c6 pawn and put a fork attacking our queen and Rook.why did he go for knight f7 taking the f7 pawn and putting fork on our two rooks ?

  14. "The probability of you facing this as an intermediate is unlikely"
Me watching this video to learn to counter scandinavian defense : 👍

  15. Your the best my g, first time viewer subbed!!!

  16. I immediately brought out my Queen and my pawns mounted a rebellion.

  17. "I almost didnt want to take" bruh you took in 0.0009 seconds

  18. i never knew i worked out a 2200 move on my own

  19. is the multiple premoves a premium functionality? mine allows only 1 premove

  20. man your videos are so underrated for the incredible structuring and comprehensive explanation that you give us. Even though u have millions of views i still think this level of content deserves more love its just so good!

  21. “i almost didn’t wanna take” biggest cap i’ve ever heard lol bro took it in 0.023 seconds

  22. Me watching this video becus of losing the Scandinavian deffence at an elo of 365 Levi if they open like this there ether 3200 or cheating. My oppoment dose that thos moves. Me 🤨

  23. All those videos are great unless you are round 400-500 elo where people just take every piece without thinking and it's complete chaos.

  24. please dont click away my engagement rate goes down . HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

  25. You know what I love, the way you talk about the attacks when going to war. "We're going to launch our pawns at each other!" And by itself that's not funny, but when you think about these poor pawns moving 1 square at a time, with an an angry scowl on their face like "I'M GONNA KILL YOU! JUST WAIT 4 MORE SQUARES, AND STAND KIND OF TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT OF ME.. NO NO, A LITTLE CLOSER!" It's hilarious! 😂♟

  26. What would be a good move if they don’t take the pawn and push it forward

  27. I came to this video because someone tried to play this defense against me. I played pawn d4 and he took with his queen… I took back…. He resigned… Lol. Level 300 game at its finest.

  28. watching this after mouse slipping a stalemate with a 14 point advantage and w queens and a bishop vs king and pawns
