The Sicilian Defense | Chess Opening Tutorial

In this series, Chess Opening Tutorial, I give you an introduction to the Sicilian Opening, also known as the Sicilian Defense. The Sicilian Defence occurs after the moves 1.e4 c5. Now, a lot of different Sicilian variations can emerge. In this video, I will give an overview of the different possible Open Sicilian variations. In future videos, I will then provide more details regarding each Sicilian variation.

  1. You are an awesome GM chess player and teacher, but as far as preference as a beginner, it would have been more enjoyable and better from the student side to see the board flipped as if I was black performing the actual Sicilian Defense. I am ofc a beginner so maybe I am missing something? Thanks

  2. The Queen's Gambit : airs
    This man : STONKS 📈

  3. I was introduced to chess at 8 years old and joined my school’s chess club at 10. I was actually really good to the point where I beat the teacher twice. He even told me and my parents that he was very fond of me and said that I was a great player.
My interest in chess began to fade when I was 14 however, most likely due to me going into high school and doing new and other things. That and my school didn’t have a chess club, or didn’t let us make one 🙁
Then, years later, I watched the Queen’s Gambit and now I’m interested in playing chess again, and it’s honestly the best feeling in the world. Although, I’m not as good as I used to be.

  4. go straight to the point no need for variations. do that in your next video

  5. Everyone: The Queen’s Gambit

Me: I just want to beat my brother 😒

  6. I thought I clicked on a novritsch video😂

  7. Everyone here saying they came to Chess because of the Queen's Gambit I came to Queen's Gambit because of Chess

  8. I'm actually a fairly good chess player and then I saw all these new openings in Queen's Gambit and the only opening I knew was the Sholar's Mate so I came here hoping to learn the Sicilian Defense.

  9. What exactly is the intention of black playing C5 in the first move? What do you achieve with that move?

  10. One more question: if black takes the pawn on D4, in fact white is to late playing the knight i think. Because: what if white plays the knight F3, what if black plays pawn D3? What does white play then?

  11. I dont know how to play chess but i already learned sicilian defence lol (fuck you margaret)

  12. Who is here after The queen's gambit 😂?

  13. Correct me if im wrong is this looks like scotch game opening too?

  23. me trying to learn so i can beat every relatives that told me im dumb

  24. Just a lil upset about all the people learning chess because of queens gambit. The store I’ve gone to for the last 6 years for my chess books has been completely wiped out of stock since queens gambit came out. But I’m glad there’s so many new people to play against now lol

  25. What should we do if he plays e5 to counter the knight

  26. Great video! Clearly explained and thoughtful. I really like how you explain the reason why the pieces are being moved certain ways. Like you say that c5 makes sense bc your contesting white's next move instead of just telling us the moves. That's VERY useful.

I'm new and my fav Sicilian is the dragon! I like the name and often times my opponet just forgets about the bishop and I get free pieces. >;)

  27. I have a match against level 3 bot on windows chess titans ,gotta defeat him once and for all.

  28. We can't even concentrate on the game because of words in the game

  29. Please say "they" instead of "he" when talking about black/white or specific pieces. It's a small change, but much more inclusive.

  30. 😂 😂 😂 I was in the schools championship…. I just want to be Bobby Fischer not Beth Harmon 😅😅

  31. Yo wait at 10:40 what happens if black knight c6 captures white knight d4

  32. I'm playing in an online competitive match tonight and I'm watching this as I'm playing black. Wish me luck!

  33. People wathcing Queens Gambit but didn't even know the real meaning and formation of the Queens Gambit

  34. I didn’t do this because of queens gambit but I was playing checkers and I thought this would be far more interesting then checkers so here I am

  35. So my grandfather beats me everytime and i am here to learn how to beat him

  36. Controling the center board is a crap strategy. Level twelve players always flank. Fyi: 🇺🇲⚔️♟️♟️♟️♟️

  37. You know you're gonna lose if you play against superman
