In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you some really cool opening tricks to fool your opponents and win their queen in just a few moves. These traps have high win/success rates and are from 10 different, popular chess openings! You can win a queen in just 6 moves in some of these openings.

Through these opening traps, you will learn one of the most common tactical patterns involving sacrificing your central pawn(s), getting one of your minor pieces (bishop or knight) into your opponent’s territory, and then deflecting your opponent’s king to win their queen.

There’s also a puzzle challenge for you at the end with which you can test the knowledge you’ve gained from these traps. Also, please let us know in the comments below which of these traps you loved the most.

  1. Qh5 then Ba5 you will end up winning a queen in the next move.

  2. 2:32 last game I did first few steps exactly as your opponnent here and guy who played against me seemed like he watched this video. Luckily for me I watched it too and evaded check mate by moving one pawn and creating space for king to move away from check. He blundered and lost queen and i won

  3. Thanks Igor, this one is quite repeatable. The new word for crushing (for me) is disgusting, trap #1 is thoroughly disgusting and a keeper. I'm loving this channel, looking forward to taking your opening and middle game courses soon.

  4. Oh no. My queen. They for that the played a real life chest on me.

  5. The problem I have with these traps is that the opponent got to follow all of the steps or everything derails.

  6. 1. Qh5+, Kd8 2. Ba5, pinning the queen to the King

  7. Some fun strategies here! Question about the Tennison Gambit: at 0:55 what if instead of 3 …Nf6, black plays Bf5?

  8. I have really learned something
    U r a good class teacher❤

  12. Thanks, now i know all of the traps so i can counter it

  13. 5:34 I actually discovered this trap by accident one day when I was playing chess, I pre moved the knight and that actually happend, I sat there a minute then I found the bishop sacrifice and did this trap.

  14. I just used the trap#2. He didn’t fully fall for it, but I still took his rook. Won the game, but dude gave me hell till the very end.

  15. Dude these are freaking amazing🤣🤣🤣🤣

  16. What a tricky guy, Oleg Smirnov. 😅 If you led an army I would raise my white flag! Hugs and blessings ❣️ ISH

  17. the answer to the puzzle at the end is Qh5 for anyone wondering. The reason is that the king will be forced to move to d8 and when it does, you can play ba5 pinning the queen to the king and winning it, and the queen cannot capture because the queen on h5 will take black queen that just took the bishop. if black tries to play g6 to misplace the queen so that it wouldn't protect a5, you can simply play bxg6 forcing the king to move anyway, then play ba5 again and win the queen

  18. Really all opening are very good lot of thanks.

  31. In #8 you do trap the queen, but the price is high and your queenside is demolished. I would definitely fight on.
